Dr. Monica Gandhi joins America's Roundtable co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy and provides further insights on her recent piece, co-authohred with Jeanne Noble and published in Time Magazine — "We Can't Just Impose Restrictions Whenever COVID-19 Surges. Here's a Better Plan for 2022." Dr. Gandhi MD, MPH is Professor of Medicine; Associate Division Chief of the Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases, and Global Medicine; Director of the Ward 86 HIV Clinic at San Francisco General Hospital; and Director of the Center for AIDS Research at UCSF.
She brings to the forefront the concerns about our children in her op-ed piece via The Wall Street Journal titled, "The Pandemic’s Toll on Teen Mental Health" in which she states: "The pandemic may have taken a heavier mental toll on young people than it has on adults. As the vaccinated proportion of the population increases and the pandemic ebbs across the U.S., a different crisis demands immediate attention. The nation’s health and education leaders must focus now on helping young people get past what has been a long, dark year."
Dr. Gandhi also highlights key lessons learned from the pandemic as America and the world transition to the endemic phase.

Join America's Roundtable co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy for a conversation on the Covid-19 pandemic’s toll on teen mental health with Monica Gandhi, MD, Professor of Medicine and Associate Division Chief (Clinical Operations/ Education) of the Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases, and Global Medicine at The University of California San Francisco General Hospital. She also serves as the medical director of the HIV Clinic at San Francisco General Hospital. Dr. Gandhi completed her M.D. at Harvard Medical School.
The discussion also elevates concerns about China's culpability in the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic and the Chinese communist party's lack of transparency in revealing the origins of the virus that has caused the deaths of nearly 4 million people and affecting some 175 million cases around the world.

"The Economist/YouGov found 58 percent of Americans said COVID-19 came from a Wuhan lab, up from 49 percent who said the same when the pollsters first asked the question in May of 2020. Meanwhile, 18 percent said it was "definitely or probably false" that the virus came from a Chinese lab, while 24 percent said they didn't know." - Newsweek

Join America's Roundtable co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy with Governor Phil Bryant, the State of Mississippi, executive advisory board member, International Leaders Summit and partner at Bryant Songy Snell Global Partners. America's Roundtable guest co-host Governor Phil Bryant provides pertinent details on his appointment by President Donald J. Trump to the President's Advisory 1776 Commission. On January 20, 2021, The President's Advisory 1776 Commission unveiled a strategic report as it relates to educating our youth on America's founding and the profound lessons of the American Republic. President Donald J. Trump commissioned the group to prepare a report that would better enable America’s rising generations to understand the history and principles of our nation’s founding.
The timely and relevant 1776 Report presents an accurate and dependable framework to the false narrative pushed by the 1619 project which was funded by The New York Times. Historians from the wide spectrum of America's landscape have debunked the 1619 project.
‘So wrong in so many ways” is how Gordon Wood, the Pulitzer Prize-winning historian of the American Revolution, characterized the New York Times ’s “1619 Project.” James McPherson, dean of Civil War historians and another Pulitzer winner, said the Times presented an “unbalanced, one-sided account” that “left most of the history out.” — The Wall Street Journal, The ‘1619 Project’ Gets Schooled
The New York Times tries to rewrite U.S. history, but its falsehoods are exposed by surprising sources. Source: https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-1619-project-gets-schooled-11576540494

Listen to America's Roundtable co-hosted by Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy with special guest Virginia Walden Ford — a leading advocate and champion for school choice in America. While she was raising her three children in Washington, D.C., Virginia was shocked that so many children were forced to attend failing, crumbling schools simply because they lived in the “wrong” ZIP codes. Virginia Walden Ford then founded a grassroots movement in Washington, DC, that led to the passage of the "Opportunity Scholarship Program" for low-income children in Washington, DC. Today, her efforts are bringing hope to children and parents especially within the Black and Hispanic communities and inspiring parents.

About Virginia Walden Ford - From Miss Virginia Movie (https://www.missvirginiamovie.com):
“Being a part of this fight for educational excellence was hard — certainly something I had never thought I’d be involved in — but when I looked at my children and my neighbors’ children, I felt compelled to continue. It was scary sometimes, but I believed then and I believe now that it was the right thing to do… for all of our kids.” — Virginia Walden Ford
MISS VIRGINIA is inspired by the story of Virginia Walden Ford, a struggling single mother from a low-income neighborhood in Washington, DC. Affectionately called “Miss Virginia” and “the Education Lady” by neighborhood children, Virginia fought to create a scholarship program for her at-risk son and children like him. And she won.
Virginia grew up in the deep South. Her world changed when the Supreme Court decided the landmark case Brown v. Board of Education, which famously concluded that “separate educational facilities” for white and black children were “inherently unequal.”
Virginia’s fight for her son and other at-risk kids forced her to become a warrior. She had to overcome deep inner doubts about whether she could actually do what she had set out to do — and almost crippling fear that she would let down the parents and kids whose hopes and dreams depended on her.
In 2004, after years of activism, Virginia secured legislation that gave thousands of impoverished, largely minority children access to safe, high-quality schools. Many have since gone on to college and rewarding careers, an outcome that would have been unimaginable without the educational boost Virginia’s law provided.
Now, MISS VIRGINIA captures Virginia’s indomitable spirit on screen. The film will inspire audiences to do their utmost to secure their children’s essential civil right—the right to an education.
