Join America's Roundtable (https://americasrt.com/) Radio co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy in a conversation with Governor George Allen who served the Commonwealth of Virginia for more than 20 years, as governor, in both bodies of the United States Congress, and as a delegate holding Thomas Jefferson’s seat in the Virginia General Assembly.
As a former United States Senator and member of the House of Representatives, Governor George Allen shares his thoughts and ideas regarding the top priorities that the House Republican leadership ought to consider for the next two years. Governor Allen will also weigh in on the lessons learned from the 2022 midterm elections. The discussion will also highlight the importance of economic competitiveness among US states, and how America's citizens benefit from low taxes, less government regulation and greater economic liberty.
Governor Allen also highlights serious concerns regarding the dangerous politicization of the United States Military, the low morale experienced within the ranks, and the urgency to rebuild the readiness of America's military. The discussion also spotlights the dangers on the U.S. southern border and the increased flow of drugs including fentanyl killing tens of thousands of young people across America.
The conversation also brings to the forefront the Abraham Accords, and its importance for America, Israel and the Middle East.
Brief Bio
George F. Allen served the Commonwealth of Virginia for more than 20 years, as governor, in both bodies of the United States Congress, and as a delegate holding Thomas Jefferson’s seat in the Virginia General Assembly.
Sworn in as governor in 1994, George Allen brought sweeping reform that made Virginia a national model in economic development, public safety, education accountability, and creative government. As a self-described “Common Sense Jeffersonian Conservative,” Allen pushed through cutting edge reform with bipartisan support in a legislature held by the opposition.
Elected to the United States Senate in 2000, George Allen continued to advocate policies to make America and Virginia a leader in innovation and technology. Senator Allen was unanimously elected a member of the Senate Republican Leadership as chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee in 2002.

Dr. Monica Gandhi joins America's Roundtable co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy and provides further insights on her recent piece, co-authohred with Jeanne Noble and published in Time Magazine — "We Can't Just Impose Restrictions Whenever COVID-19 Surges. Here's a Better Plan for 2022." Dr. Gandhi MD, MPH is Professor of Medicine; Associate Division Chief of the Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases, and Global Medicine; Director of the Ward 86 HIV Clinic at San Francisco General Hospital; and Director of the Center for AIDS Research at UCSF.
She brings to the forefront the concerns about our children in her op-ed piece via The Wall Street Journal titled, "The Pandemic’s Toll on Teen Mental Health" in which she states: "The pandemic may have taken a heavier mental toll on young people than it has on adults. As the vaccinated proportion of the population increases and the pandemic ebbs across the U.S., a different crisis demands immediate attention. The nation’s health and education leaders must focus now on helping young people get past what has been a long, dark year."
Dr. Gandhi also highlights key lessons learned from the pandemic as America and the world transition to the endemic phase.

The brilliant economist Dr. Steve Hanke, professor of applied economics and founder and co-director of the Institute for Applied Economics, Global Health, and the Study of Business Enterprise at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, joins America's Roundtable co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy in a timely conversation on the U.S. Labor Department's report on the rising inflation rate - now at 6.8%, the highest in nearly four decades, the talks about increasing interest rate and how it will impact hard working and decent Americans, families and small and medium private enterprises.
The conversation will also focus on Dr. Hanke's recent piece in The National Review (https://www.nationalreview.com/2021/12/remembrances-of-senator-robert-dole-and-a-russia-story/#slide-1) on the passing away of one of America's greatest heroes and public servants, former Senator Bob Dole: Remembrances of Senator Robert Dole — and a Russia Story (https://www.nationalreview.com/2021/12/remembrances-of-senator-robert-dole-and-a-russia-story/#slide-1).
We also delve into the serious implications of the Covid-19 lockdowns impacting America and countries around the world, with the exception of places like Sweden which upheld its constitution, respected individual liberty, and chose a laissez-faire approach.
Dr. Steve H. Hanke is a leading world expert on currency boards, measuring and stopping hyperinflation, privatization, currency and commodity trading, water resource economics, and other topics.
As a senior fellow and director of the Troubled Currencies Project at the internationally recognized Cato Institute in Washington, D.C., Hanke studies countries unable to maintain a stable domestic currency. Often, it is difficult to obtain timely, reliable exchange-rate and inflation data for these “troubled currencies.”

The Wall Street Journal | The Monetary Bathtub Is Overflowing (https://www.wsj.com/articles/monetary-bathtub-overflowing-inflation-drain-transitory-11634847429)
Many economists say inflation is transitory. It will be persistent.
By John Greenwood and Steve H. Hanke
“Inflation is always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon,” Milton Friedman said. Inflation isn’t caused by temporary supply-chain disruptions. Take Japan during the 1979-80 oil crisis: Oil prices surged, but consumer prices remained stable. In China today, raw-material prices are soaring, but consumer prices have hardly budged. To explain what is happening in the U.S. economy, we present the bathtub theory of money and inflation. Money flows into the tub through the faucet. The bathtub has three drains."

The Wall Street Journal | Freedom and Sweden’s Constitution (https://www.wsj.com/articles/freedom-and-swedens-constitution-11589993183)
The country’s laissez-faire response to the coronavirus pandemic has deep roots in both culture and law.
By Lars Jonung and Steve H. Hanke
"In most countries, the tool of choice to “flatten the curve” of the coronavirus pandemic is the lockdown. Not in Sweden, which has chosen a rather laissez-faire approach. The borders have been kept open, and Swedes are free to travel within the country, visit bars and restaurants (with some restrictions), parks, hairdressers, gyms and most other places.
The cornerstone of the Swedish response is its constitution’s most important part, the Regeringsform. Chapter 2, Article 8 states: “Everyone shall be protected in their relations with the public institutions against deprivations of personal liberty. All Swedish citizens shall also in other respects be guaranteed freedom of movement within the Realm and freedom to depart the Realm.”

"Inflationistas like Steve Hanke were indignant that US inflation was not a transitory supply chain problem. “Shifts in consumer spending have resulted in broad-based price increases across expenditure categories” because “the incompetent Fed has produced a massive amount of excess money,” he proclaimed."

Join America's Roundtable co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy with special guest Governor George Allen who led the Commonwealth of Virginia as its 67th Governor and served as United States Senator. Our conversation analyzes Virginia's 2021 Gubernatorial election with Republicans wining three top statewide offices in Virginia and flipping the House of Delegates, wider implications of this election for the next midterm eletions and issues that Americans are mostly concerned with.
George Allen served the Commonwealth of Virginia for more than 20 years, as governor, in both bodies of the United States Congress, and as a delegate holding Thomas Jefferson’s seat in the Virginia General Assembly.
Mr. Allen holds an undergraduate degree and law degree from the University of Virginia. Elected to the United States Senate in 2000, George Allen continued to make America and Virginia a leader in innovation and technology.
Mr. Allen currently serves as the President of George Allen Strategies, a consulting firm founded by Mr. Allen, and has served on the board of directors for technology companies, including Lee Technologies, nanoRisk Assessment and Material Intellect, Inc.
