Join America's Roundtable (https://americasrt.com/) radio co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy with the Honorable Benjamin S. Carson, Sr. M.D., one of America's most principled leaders, a brilliant mind, and a champion of freedom. Dr. Ben Carson is the founder and chairman of the American Cornerstone Institute, the 17th U.S. Secretary of the Department of Housing and Development, and former director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
The conversation focuses on:
* Domestic and foreign policy initiatives with a review on the successes of the second Trump Administration.
* The importance of faith, family and patriotism in protecting our freedoms in America.
* The ills of marxism and socialism and their manifestation in America.
* Expanding homeownership and reigniting the American Dream.
* Affirming Israel's sovereignty and protecting Jewish communities in the West.
Our conversation also highlights Dr. Ben Carson's must-read book "The Perilous Fight: Overcoming Our Culture's War on the American Family."
Quote from Dr. Ben Carson's book, "The Perilous Fight":
"The perilous fight" was penned by Francis Scott Key in the midst of a most difficult and pivotal moment in our nation's history when twenty British ships bombarded Fort McHenry from the Baltimore Harbor. It was on the morning of September 14, 1814 that Francis Scott Key wrote about the ramparts, and the land of the free and the home of the brave which inspired a nation and became a rallying victory call.
“The perilous fight—those words arrest my attention whenever I place my right hand over my heart and face the flag at the playing of our national anthem. They are a reminder that America was born in a crucible of fire. Freedom was not given freely but had to be fought for and defended.” ~ Dr. Ben Carson
Biography | Dr. Ben Carson
In 1973, Ben Carson graduated from Yale University. He went on to receive his M.D. from the University of Michigan Medical School. At the age of 33, Dr. Carson became the chief of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, making him the youngest major division director in the hospital’s history.
This would be among an extensive list of outstanding firsts for Dr. Carson. Dr. Carson’s accomplishments have earned him a place in medical history. He performed the first and only successful separation of craniopagus (Siamese) twins joined at the back of the head in 1987.
He also performed the first fully successful separation of type-2 vertical craniopagus twins in 1997 in South Africa. In his career, Dr. Carson became a professor of neurosurgery, oncology, plastic surgery, and pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and directed pediatric neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center for over 29 years.
In 2016, Dr. Carson accepted the position of Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under the Trump administration. After completing his tenure as the 17th Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development in 2021, Dr. Carson founded the American Cornerstone Institute. This organization is focused on fighting for the principles that have guided him through life and that make this country great: faith, liberty, community and life.
Dr. Carson and his wife, Candy Carson, co-founded the Carson Scholars Fund, which recognizes young people of all backgrounds for exceptional academic and humanitarian accomplishments. The organization has awarded more than 11,000 scholarships and paid out more than $8.9 million in scholarships. The Carson Scholars Fund is currently operating in 50 states and the District of Columbia, and since its founding, has installed more than 270 Ben Carson Reading Rooms around the country.
In 2021, Dr. Carson founded the American Cornerstone Institute (ACI), a conservative think tank centered around advancing policies that promote “faith, liberty, community, and life.”
Dr. and Mrs. Carson reside in Florida. They are the proud parents of three sons and three daughters-in-law, and blessed grandparents of eight grandchildren.

Join America's Roundtable (https://americasrt.com/) radio co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy with Marc Lotter, Former Special Assistant to President Donald J. Trump and Chief Communications Officer at America First Policy Institute.
Marc Lotter is from Fort Wayne, Indiana, and serves as the Chief Communications Officer at America First Policy Institute (AFPI). Previously, Marc served as Director of Strategic Communications for the Trump-Pence 2020 campaign. He also was a Special Assistant to the President and Press Secretary to Vice President Mike Pence during most of the first year of the Trump Administration. Prior to joining the administration, he served as Press Secretary to the Vice President during the 2016 presidential campaign and transition. In those roles, Lotter regularly appeared on national and cable news outlets including Fox News Channel, MSNBC, CNN and programs such as: ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos, CNN’s State of the Union with Jake Tapper, MSNBC’s Meet the Press Daily with Chuck Todd and Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace.
Before entering public service, Lotter spent 13 years as a producer and manager for television stations across the country. During Lotter’s career in local television news, his work received two Emmy awards and was recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists for the “Best Newscast” in Indiana.
Our conversation focuses on:
America's economy as inflationary prices persist with high interest rates. AP reported:
"Mortgage rates, credit card rates, auto loan rates, and business loans with variable rates will all likely maintain their highs, with consequences for consumer spending, after the Federal Reserve indicated Wednesday that it doesn’t plan to cut interest rates until it has “greater confidence” that price increases at the consumer level are slowing to its 2% target. The central bank kept its key rate at a two-decade high of roughly 5.3%, where it has been since last August.”
Illegal immigration impacting cities and local communities — will America's citizens and leaders address this crisis?
President Joe Biden's policy on Israel. The Biden administration's decision to block the transfer of congressionally approved military aid to the Jewish state presents greater risks. Critics voice concerns that Biden's policy will embolden Israel's enemies in the region, notably Iran, a state sponsor of terrorism.
Speaker Mike Johnson held a high-profile press conference unveiling the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act alongside the bill's leaders in the House and Senate, Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, and Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah. According to Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and co-sponsor of the SAVE act:
"Current law makes it illegal for non-citizens to vote in federal elections, but it does not require states to obtain documentary proof of U.S. citizenship before an individual registers to vote. The SAVE Act would amend the National Voter Registration Act to clarify that states must require proof of citizenship when registering individuals to vote in federal elections."
America First Policy Institute presents — "An America First Approach to U.S. National Security”

Join America's Roundtable (https://americasrt.com/) Radio co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy with former U.S. Congressman Dave Brat (https://gettr.com/user/brateconomics), economist, dean of the School of Business, Liberty University, and executive advisory board member, International Leaders Summit.
This weekend's conversation will focus on the vital issues impacting America's citizen-stakeholders and the world:
— The collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and The Signature Bank and its cost to America's taxpayers.
— Spotlight on the Federal Reserve Bank and its adverse impact on the free market economy.
— The future of regional banks in America.
— Addressing the dangers of President Biden's ESG rules—"environmental, social and governance" placing retirement savings at risk.
"Put simply, retirement savings will be used as leverage to force companies to reduce their carbon emissions and establish racial and gender quotas and other social justice fads completely unrelated to securing a high return on workers' lifetime savings....Terrence Keeley, a former executive at BlackRock, blew the whistle on this scam in the Wall Street Journal by noting that since 2017, when the ESG fad took hold, these funds have had an annual rate of return of 6.3% – versus 8.9% for the stock market as a whole. Investors lost 2.6% per year on their retirement funds. There goes the down payment on that retirement home in Arizona or Florida." — Stephen Moore (https://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/bidens-esg-investment-rules-threaten-your-retirement-savings)
— The China Threat.

Join America's Roundtable (https://americasrt.com/) Radio co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy with former Governor George Allen from the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Our conversation is focused on the following topics:
—Advancing U.S. state competition and the urgency to make America more competitive in the global arena.
—Securing energy independence in America | Initiative for a modular nuclear reactor in Virginia.
—The unsustainable US debt exacerbated by the growing interest rate.
—A Convention of States is much closer than you think. Learn about the growing momentum for a Convention of States aimed at creating a balanced budget amendment. Listen to how many states have joined this principled initiative.
“I wish it were possible to obtain a single amendment to our Constitution. I would be willing to depend on that alone for the reduction of the administration of our government to the genuine principles of its Constitution; I mean an article, taking from the Federal government the power of borrowing.”
— Thomas Jefferson's statement just two years after the Constitution had been in effect, argued for a a Constitutional amendment to curtail Federal government spending.
Brief Bio:
At the conclusion of his term as Governor of Virginia, George Allen viewed with satisfaction the monumental reforms his administration achieved that made Virginia a national model in economic development, public safety, education accountability, and welfare reform.
The Washington Post called Allen “one of the most influential governors in recent Virginia history”.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch recently praised Allen’s campaign “among the most policy-driven campaigns in gubernatorial history.”
Keeping the promises he made to Virginians, and working with a Democratic-controlled General Assembly, Allen successfully cut taxes by more than $600 million; instituted high academic Standards of Learning and School Performance Report Cards; made neighborhoods safer with the abolition of parole; initiated historic, pro-work welfare reforms; enacted the nation’s first Public-Private Transportation funding system; repealed or amended 71% of all regulations; reduced the size of government with greater efficiency and accountability; and grew the economy – making sure the world knew “Virginia is Open for Business”. With added revenues, Allen was able to freeze tuition rates at universities and community colleges.
Allen’s administration recruited over $13 billion in new investments and created more than 300,000 net new private sector jobs. When Allen was sworn in as Governor in 1994, coal and cigarettes were Virginia’s top exports; after four years of Allen’s tireless dedication to economic-development, semiconductor chips became Virginia’s top export, leading U.S. News and World Report to dub Virginia the “Silicon Dominion”.

Join America's Roundtable Radio co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy with former Governor George Allen from the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Dr. Steve Hanke provides an analysis of midterm elections, an update on America's economy, and raises concerns about the prolonged Ukraine - Russia conflict as the West's economic sanctions fail to bring an end to the war on the European continent. Dr. Hanke has been a strong critic of corruption in Ukraine and recent reports that he highlights raise red flags that US weapons are making its way to the black market. On America's Roundtable, principled leaders have called for greater oversight on how US taxpayer aid is being used in Ukraine and within NATO's Eastern European countries mired in corruption.
Professor Hanke also discusses the Misery Index, and "why it is essential for policy-makers to have a read of their constituents’ well-being, as viewed through the lens of economic statistics."
Report: Hanke’s 2021 Misery Index: Who’s Miserable and Who’s Happy? (https://www.nationalreview.com/2022/03/hankes-2021-misery-index-whos-miserable-and-whos-happy/)
Hanke’s Annual Misery Index (HAMI). What is it — and how should we conceive of man’s well-being? The human condition lies on a vast spectrum between “miserable” and “happy.” In the economic sphere, misery tends to flow from high inflation, steep borrowing costs, and unemployment. The surefire way to mitigate that misery is through economic growth. Comparing countries’ metrics can tell us a lot about where in the world people are sad or happy. HAMI gives us the answers. My version of the misery index is the sum of the year-end unemployment, inflation, and bank-lending rates, minus the annual percentage change in real GDP per capita. Higher readings on the first three elements are “bad” and make people more miserable. These “bads” are offset by a “good” (real GDP per capita growth), which is subtracted from the sum of the bads to yield a HAMI score.

Join America's Roundtable Radio co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy in a conversation with Former U.S. Senator Jim DeMint and Former White House Chief of Staff and Former US Congressman Mark Meadows on the vital issues impacting America and the world.
The distinguished guests reflect on the second anniversary of the historic Abraham Accords and the opportunities to expand this principled initiative that is advancing peace and prosperity in the Middle East. On September 15, 2020, President Donald Trump hosted a historic signing ceremony for the Abraham Accords formally normalizing diplomatic relations between Israel and Arab states — the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Furthermore, this historic breakthrough led to the Kingdom of Morocco and Muslim majority nations Sudan and Kosovo to join the Abraham Accords. Europe's Kosovo established its first embassy in Israel locating it in Jerusalem, the Jewish state's capital city. The Abraham Accords refer to the agreements of diplomatic relations and full normalization between Israel and partner countries including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco, Sudan, and Kosovo.
The conversation with Senator DeMint and Congressman Meadows will provide listeners with an update on the U.S. economy with persisting inflation, rising interest rates by the Federal Reserve Bank, the immigration crisis impacting the nation and specifically border states, and the forthcoming mid-term elections in 2022.
According to the Associated Press (https://apnews.com/article/inflation-mortgages-mortgage-rates-90d3b63fe4dd8b81d6765375d403cb8e), "Mortgage buyer Freddie Mac reported Thursday that the 30-year rate rose to 6.02% from 5.89% last week." The report showed that the average long-term U.S. mortgage rates climbed over 6% this week for the first time since the housing crash of 2008, and threatening to sideline even more homebuyers from a rapidly cooling housing market.
This discussion will delve into how government policies affect families and the private sector, specifically small and medium size businesses.
Brief bios
Former US Senator Jim DeMint | Chairman, Conservative Partnership Institute (https://www.cpi.org/staff/jim-demint/)
Jim DeMint has fought tirelessly for freedom, prosperity, and traditional American values against the Washington swamp for over two decades. Today, he leads and trains a new generation of conservative warriors as Chairman of the Conservative Partnership Institute.
DeMint represented South Carolina in the U.S. House (1999-2005) and U.S. Senate (2005-2013). Known for policy innovation, he authored leading conservative reforms to health care, education, taxes, and entitlements. DeMint garnered national acclaim from conservatives for leading efforts to ban congressional earmarks, the source of billions of dollars of wasteful spending for decades which had led to corruption and widespread abuse. He also successfully led the fight to stop the McCain-Kennedy amnesty bill in 2007. DeMint is also the Founder of the Senate Conservatives Fund, which played a major role in the election of many of the Senate’s leading conservatives like Mike Lee, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and Tom Cotton.
President Trump appointed DeMint to the White House Economic Advisory Board in 2020. DeMint’s latest book, They’re Lying to You, was a number 1# best seller on Amazon.
Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows | Senior Partner, Conservative Partnership Institute (https://www.cpi.org/staff/mark-meadows/)
President Trump called Mark Meadows “the guy who never stops working.”
Mark’s work is that of a true public servant. From his days in the U.S. House of Representatives to his time as President Trump’s chief of staff to his current role as CPI’s Senior Partner, Mark has worked tirelessly to shift the focus from the desires of Washington politicians to the needs of the American people.
Working with the House Freedom Caucus, which he co-founded in 2015, he helped strip key provisions of Obamacare as it crushed the American people with sky-high premiums and fewer healthcare choices. He helped pass the historic tax cuts of 2017. And he changed the dynamic of the Republican conference and helped oust then-House Speaker John Boehner. Mark and his fellow Freedom Caucus members would go on to successfully defend President Trump from the bogus Russia collusion attacks and impeachment.
By the time he became chief of staff in 2020, Mark had already spent countless hours working with the 45th president to give the American people a seat at the table.
Mark was President Trump’s gatekeeper and top advisor, steering the White House through one of the most tumultuous years in American history, as COVID-19 lockdowns, race riots, and other assertions of leftist power ripped through the country.
When Mark left government service in January 2021, he wanted to keep up the fight. That made CPI his obvious landing spot. As senior partner, he helps lead CPI’s strategic initiatives on Capitol Hill, with other partner organizations, and with grassroots activists across the country. Mark also paved the way for other former Trump administration officials to join CPI’s staff and partner organizations. In December 2021, he released his book, “The Chief’s Chief,” about his time in the White House.

Join America's Roundtable co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy for a conversation with professor Victor Davis Hanson (https://www.hoover.org/profiles/victor-davis-hanson), best-selling author of The Dying Citizen: How Progressive Elites, Tribalism, and Globalization Are Destroying the Idea of America (https://www.amazon.com/Dying-Citizen-Progressive-Globalization-Destroying/dp/154164753X). Professor Hanson is the Martin and Illie Anderson Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution; his focus is classics and military history.
Hanson received a BA in classics at the University of California, Santa Cruz (1975), was a fellow at the American School of Classical Studies, Athens (1977–78), and received his PhD in classics from Stanford University (1980).
The timely conversation brings to the forefront America's vanishing middle class and how government policies are impoverishing millions of citizens. Professor Victor Davis Hanson will provide his perspective on the influx of over 3 million illegal immigrants entering through the US southern border and its impact across the country. Key topics will also cover the significant erosion of the rule of law, and the weakening state of our national security.
The Washington Post (https://www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/2022/06/16/united-states-border-immigration-arrests/) reports on the data compiled on illegal immigrants — "The agency is on pace to exceed 2 million detentions during fiscal 2022, which ends in September, after tallying a record 1.73 million in 2021."
In an essay titled "A Quiet Destruction," Professor Hanson wrote (https://americancompass.org/essays/a-quiet-destruction/),
"There is a common mentality evident in these pathologies and among those policymakers responsible for them. It is a strange new sense of justified entitlement among our credentialed elites in government and in private enterprise. As self-righteous moralists, they now assume that their deserved affluence, influence, and cultural superiority should exempt them from suffering firsthand the consequences of their own abstract theories and misbegotten policies that fall so heavily and so destructively upon distant and forgotten others."
Professor Hanson provides a clarion warning by relaying evidences of the looming peasant state (https://www.deseret.com/2021/11/8/22766032/the-looming-peasant-state-stanford-hoover-institution-housing-crisis-middle-class):
"The result is the emergence of a new American peasantry, of millions of Americans who own little or no property. The new majority has scant, if any, savings. Fifty-eight percent of Americans have less than $1,000 in the bank. A missed paycheck renders them destitute, completely unable to service sizable debt. Most of what they buy, from cars to electronic appurtenances, they charge on credit cards."
The Dying Citizen: How Progressive Elites, Tribalism, and Globalization Are Destroying the Idea of America (https://www.amazon.com/Dying-Citizen-Progressive-Globalization-Destroying/dp/154164753X)
The New York Times bestselling author explains the decline and fall of the once cherished idea of American citizenship.
Human history is full of the stories of peasants, subjects, and tribes. Yet the concept of the “citizen” is historically rare—and was among America’s most valued ideals for over two centuries. But without shock treatment, warns historian Victor Davis Hanson, American citizenship as we have known it may soon vanish.
In The Dying Citizen, Hanson outlines the historical forces that led to this crisis. The evisceration of the middle class over the last fifty years has made many Americans dependent on the federal government. Open borders have undermined the idea of allegiance to a particular place. Identity politics have eradicated our collective civic sense of self. And a top-heavy administrative state has endangered personal liberty, along with formal efforts to weaken the Constitution.
As in the revolutionary years of 1848, 1917, and 1968, 2020 ripped away our complacency about the future. But in the aftermath, we as Americans can rebuild and recover what we have lost. The choice is ours.
Articles and Essays by Professor Victor Davis Hanson:
The Sovietization of American Life (https://www.independent.org/news/article.asp?id=14198)
Behind all our disasters there looms an ideology, a creed that ignores cause and effect in the real world—without a shred of concern for the damage done to those outside the nomenklatura.
A Quiet Destruction (https://americancompass.org/essays/a-quiet-destruction/)
The problem is not that government is doing too much or too little, but rather that it is utterly failing in those key tasks that must rightfully be its focus.
The Mercury News | Hanson: The American people are being forced to imagine the unimaginable (https://www.mercurynews.com/2022/05/13/hanson-the-american-people-imagine-the-unimaginable/)
Americans are now entering uncharted, revolutionary territory. They may witness things over the next five months that once would have seemed unimaginable. Until the Ukrainian conflict, we had never witnessed a major land war inside Europe directly involving a nuclear power. In desperation, Russia’s impaired and unhinged leader Vladimir Putin now talks trash about the likelihood of nuclear war. (Link: https://victorhanson.com/imagine-the-unimaginable/)

Join America's Roundtable co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy for a conversation with Senator Jim DeMint, former US Senator and Chairman of Conservative Partnership Institute, a great American patriot and principled leader focusing on the vital issues impacting our nation and the world.
The conversation with Senator DeMint will highlight the significance of affirming U.S. Constitutional principles and the urgency to advance pro-growth policies. On America's Roundtable Radio, the timely and relevant discussion will address the Biden administration's policies, America's serious economic problems including skyrocketing inflation now at 8.6% (fastest pace in 41 years), and the high energy costs adversely impacting American families and small businesses.
The U.S. economy and the nation's security is dependent on energy; however, government policies and stringent regulations being imposed from Washington, DC, have undermined America's energy independence and placed the nation at great risk.
Senator DeMint will present his views on the Federal Reserve's announcement on Wednesday of a 0.75-percentage-point raise of the federal-funds rate, the central bank’s largest rate hike since 1994.
Senator DeMint will also address the national security crisis and humanitarian crisis at the U.S. southern border. The discussion will place the spotlight on the goals of the Democratic Party's policies which reveal a troubling vision whereby the Department of Homeland Security is set to punish Border Patrol agents while refusing to uphold a rule of law based immigration system and shore up national security at the borders.
Update: 50 Illegal immigrants on the terror list were apprehended at the border by Customs and Border Protection in 2022 thus far. This figure is more than the total number caught in the last five years combined.
The dangerous activities of transnational organized crime networks at the border include human trafficking and smuggling of drugs such as fentanyl. The New York Times reported, "...deaths from drug overdoses rose again to record-breaking levels in 2021, nearing 108,000, the result of an ever-worsening fentanyl crisis, according to preliminary new data published on Wednesday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention."
The program will cover Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the brutal warfare resulting in 1,000 casualties per day in the Donbas region, and the significance of affirming America's long-standing policy of peace through strength. Iran is dangerously close to completing its nuclear weapons program.
Senator Jim DeMint has fought tirelessly for freedom, prosperity, and traditional American values against the Washington swamp for over two decades.

Join America's Roundtable co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy for an in-depth conversation with former U.S. Congressman David Brat, the brilliant economist, dean of the Business School at Liberty University, and executive advisory board member of International Leaders Summit — focusing on America's economy and the future of public policy in the United States. The conversation will also highlight a new Wall Street Journal-NORC Poll which shows that Americans are deeply pessimistic about the U.S. economy and view the nation as sharply divided over its most important values.
According to The Wall Street Journal (https://www.wsj.com/articles/inflation-political-division-put-u-s-in-a-pessimistic-mood-poll-finds-11654507800), "Some 83% of respondents described the state of the economy as poor or not so good. More than one-third, or 35%, said they aren’t satisfied at all with their financial situation. That was the highest level of dissatisfaction since NORC began asking the question every few years starting in 1972 as part of the General Social Survey."
The discussion will also bring to the forefront the Biden administration's efforts to loosen up federal patent rules, thus opening the door for high-tech companies backed by the Chinese government to raid American inventions in the highly coveted 5G space.
According to The Washington Examiner, "...three GOP senators are also warning that in watering down intellectual property protections, the administration could be jeopardizing national security at a time when China and other potential foes are outspending the United States on 21st-century technology by a mile.”
This weekend's program will also review the concerns being raised by American citizens and legislators about the Biden Administration's foreign policy follies and the US entering a quagmire in Europe with $40 billion of taxpayer funds designated for Ukraine, while wealthy European nations still remain hesitant about paying their fair share for defense on the continent.

Join America's Roundtable co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy with the Honorable Phil Bryant, former Governor of the State of Mississippi (2012-2020) covering key issues of our day including the Dobbs Supreme Court case, the leak of Justice Samuel Alito’s draft opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization overturning Roe v. Wade, America's national security crisis at the nation's southern border, the Republic's economic decline and the war in Europe.
On March 19, 2018, Governor Phil Bryant signed the Gestational Age Act (H.B. 1510) into law. This bill was introduced by Mississippi Representative Becky Currie, a registered nurse. The bill received bipartisan support in both chambers of the legislature.
Before becoming the state’s chief executive, Phil Bryant was lieutenant governor, state auditor and represented his legislative district in the Mississippi House of Representatives. Governor Bryant began his career as a deputy sheriff in Hinds County and is a great proponent in strengthening America’s constitutional principles — the rule of law, and standing firm for the significance of life, and liberty.
Governor Bryant serves on the leadership board of International Leaders Summit and is a distinguished guest contributor of America's Roundtable.
“The ability to obtain an abortion would not disappear across the U.S. It might in some states, but in some of those states there are already relatively few clinics that perform abortions. The likeliest result is a multiplicity of laws depending on how the debate and elections go. California might allow abortion until the moment of birth. Mississippi might ban it except in cases of rape or incest. This is how the American system is supposed to work, as the late Justice Antonin Scalia often wrote. After a series of elections, abortion law will sort itself out democratically. That had started to happen before the Supreme Court intervened in Roe, embittering the abortion debate and damaging the Court. In Dobbs the Court can say that such a profound moral question should be decided by the people, not by nine unelected judges.”
