Bio: John Catsimatidis (https://www.catsimatidis.com/about/)
John Catsimatidis came from humble beginnings.
John was born on the Greek Island of Nisyros in 1948 and 6 months later his parents emigrated to New York City in search of a better life. They settled on 135th Street in Harlem and his father found work as a busboy and his mother was a stay-at-home mom.
John is a true son of New York; he was educated in both the parochial and public school systems earning his high school diploma from Brooklyn Tech. John enrolled in New York University to study electrical engineering; going to school during the day and working in a small grocery store on nights and weekends to help his parents pay the bills. During his senior year, with just 8 credits remaining, John dropped out of NYU to work in the grocery business full-time. By his 25th birthday he was already a success with 10 Red Apple Supermarkets scattered along Broadway on Manhattan’s Upper Westside.
. . . and has lived the American Dream
Now, four decades later the Red Apple Group has evolved into a diversified corporation that has holdings in the energy, aviation, retail and real estate sectors and over 8,000 employees, with approximately 2,000 located in New York City. John and his wife Margo Catsimatidis live on Manhattan’s Upper East side and are parents to 2 grown children; Andrea and John Jr.
John is a firm believer in giving back to the community and has been a strong supporter of the Police Athletic League for nearly 30 years.
He serves on the Board of Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, the Hellenic Times Scholarship Fund, and over the years served in a variety of volunteer positions in the Greek Orthodox Church.

Join America's Roundtable Radio co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy in a recent conversation with Arizona's State Treasurer Kimberly Yee focusing on her leadership role in countering the dangerous anti-Israel BDS (Boycott, Sanctions, and Divestment) movement. The conversation highlights the rise of anti-Semitism and how principled leaders across America are calling for principled actions against the BDS movement—a hateful campaign designed to delegitimize Israel and Jewish communities in America and around the world.
Arizona State Treasurer Kimberly Yee put investment firm Morningstar on notice and stated that it violated the state’s anti-BDS law.
The Jewish Insider | Morningstar ESG rating system violates Arizona anti-BDS law, treasurer says (https://jewishinsider.com/2022/08/arizona-kimberly-lee-morningstar-esg-sustainalytics/)
“As Treasurer, it is my duty to ensure that Arizona does not do business with companies that are attempting to undermine Israel’s economy and violate Arizona’s anti-BDS law,” said Arizona Treasurer Kimberly Yee. “Morningstar’s ESG rating subsidiary, Sustainalytics, appears to violate Arizona law by negatively impacting ratings of companies doing business in Israel. I continue to strongly oppose the use of woke ESG ratings in order to keep politics out of Arizonan’s livelihoods and retirement accounts.”
In Treasurer Yee’s letter to Kunal Kapoor, CEO of Morningstar Inc., she informed Kapoor that the company had 30 days within receipt of her letter sent on August 18, 2022, to provide written certification explaining how Morningstar’s usage of ESG ratings does not violate Arizona’s anti-BDS law. Further, Treasurer Yee required that Morningstar must provide a written averment that they will not engage in any future boycott activities against Israel.
“As Arizona’s Chief Banking and Investment Officer, I stand with Israel, and I will not allow taxpayer dollars to become victim to the woke political gamesmanship of ESG ratings. ESG ratings are a political scorecard, not a financial scorecard,” said Arizona Treasurer Kimberly Yee. “I will not allow companies to promote policies that are antisemitic and discriminatory efforts against Israel, which is America's longtime friend and ally, and a significant trade partner with Arizona.”
Treasurer Kimberly and Arizona's state government have stood in support of Israel's sovereignty and thwarted efforts of American companies working to boycott Israel.
Last year in September 2021, Treasurer Yee withdrew $143 million of Arizona's public funds from Unilever, the parent company of Ben and Jerry's over the ice cream firm’s decision to cease sales in Judea and Samaria also known as the West Bank, and east Jerusalem.
A published report stated (https://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/arizonas-state-treasurer-divests-funds-ben-jerrys-anti-semitic-boycott-israel) — "Arizona will not do business with companies that are attempting to undermine Israel’s economy and blatantly disregarding Arizona’s law," said Treasurer Kimberly Yee.

Treasurer Kimberly Yee provides the latest update on Ben & Jerry’s and the actions taken by its parent company Unilever.
"As Arizona Treasurer, I've divested all state funds from Ben & Jerry's for boycotting Israel," Yee tweeted (https://twitter.com/KimberlyYeeAZ/status/1435279685399678982?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw). "Israel is and will continue to be a major trade partner of AZ. #IStandWithIsrael and I will not allow taxpayer dollars to go towards anti-Semitic, discriminatory efforts against Israel."
The discussion with Arizona State Treasurer Kimberly Yee also focuses on America's inflation surge and the solutions presented to address the nation's energy crisis and the national security at the southern border. Arizona spans more than 370 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is on pace to make more than 2 million arrests along the Mexico border during the 2022 fiscal year.
On the energy front, Kimberly Yee has been a leading voice to hold to account the U.S. banking industry and the world’s largest asset managers when it comes to efforts to boycott energy companies. In November 2021, Treasurer Yee joined a coalition of 15 Republican Treasurers, Auditors, and Comptrollers of states representing over $600 billion in public assets with a warning that it could potentially reduce future business with banks that cut off financing for oil, gas, and coal.
The letter reads:
"We have a compelling government interest, when acting as participants in the financial services market on behalf of our respective states, to select financial institutions that are not engaged in tactics to harm the very people whose money they are handling. Further, we have the responsibility, as fiduciaries and stewards of more than $600 billion (https://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-General/Republican-States-Could-Pull-600B-From-Anti-Fossil-Fuel-Banks.html), to ensure that our financial service providers are free from harmful conflicts of interest that could jeopardize state funds. Any financial institution that has adopted policies aimed at diminishing a large portion of our states’ revenue has a major conflict of interest against holding, maintaining, or managing those funds."

Join America's Roundtable Radio co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy in a conversation with Roger Helmer, former member of the European parliament representing the United Kingdom (1999-2017) and serving in the Conservative and the UKIP parties, respectively.
The conversation focuses on the importance of energy security and how Washington's ill-advised policies have led to record fuel prices adversely affecting working families and businesses. The conversation also highlights Europe's energy crisis and how countries such as Germany face even greater uncertainty with the forthcoming winter season. Germany's center-left government has now decided to ramp-up its coal-fired power production.
Europe's climate obsessions, its emphasis on renewables and the Russian factor have led to a major crisis that will impact citizens and the continent's manufacturers.
Mr. Helmer will present his message on how renewables undermine our energy security and how consumers, voters, and elected officials should apply principled market solutions to securing energy independence.
Amid the energy crisis, the discussion will bring to the forefront U.S. President Joe Biden's visit to Israel and Saudi Arabia, the concerns regarding a nuclear-armed Iran, and the instability it will create in the Middle East and beyond.
Mr. Helmer was a member of the following European Parliament committees — Industry, External Trade, Research and Energy and Employment and Social Affairs. He served as member of the ASEAN delegation. Mr. Helmer has worked with several multinational companies including Procter & Gamble, National Semiconductor, Reader's Digest, Tootal Group/ Coats Viyella, and Guinness PLC.
He is one of the founding leadership members of the Jerusalem Leaders Summit.
Mr. Helmer has published two books on European issues, "Straight Talking on Europe" in 2000, and "A Declaration of Independence" in 2002.

Join America's Roundtable co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy with special guest Roger Helmer who served in the political arena as a member of the European Parliament representing the United Kingdom, and serving in the Conservative and the UKIP parties, respectively.
We review the policies proposed at the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (also known as COP26) held in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom. Roger Helmer shares his concerns about the current energy crisis in Europe - and how the transition to renewable sources of energy may adversely impact Americans. Moreover, these policies are examined in light of concerns that they will hurt poor nations in Africa and lead to massive migration movements in the future.

The Wind Turbine Failures Behind Europe's Energy Crisis Are a Warning for America (https://www.newsweek.com/wind-turbine-failures-europe-energy-crisis-warning-america-fossil-fuels-1643011)
"The ongoing energy crisis in Europe has shown how nations will experience "growing pains" from a switch to renewable sources of energy including wind power, according to experts who spoke to Newsweek. The situation across the Atlantic may provide a warning for the U.S., with President Joe Biden having set a goal to decarbonize the nation's power grid by 2035 and the whole U.S. economy by 2050. Decarbonizing the power grid will involve a transition to renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power, which can be less reliable than traditional fossil fuels. Europe's recent experience with wind turbines could be instructive for the United States. Energy and transport ministers from 27 European Union (EU) countries gathered for an emergency meeting in Luxembourg on Tuesday amid rising fuel costs on the continent. The crisis has come amid a 20 percent reduction in output in the wind power sector and and rising costs of oil and gas, as reported by Forbes."
Roger Helmer served in the political arena as a member of the European Parliament representing the United Kingdom and serving in the Conservative and the UKIP parties, respectively. He started his business career in 1965 with Procter & Gamble, going on to hold senior marketing and general management appointments in a range of companies, including Readers Digest and National Semiconductor.
Mr. Helmer has published two books on European issues, "Straight Talking on Europe" in 2000, and "A Declaration of Independence" in 2002. He also served as Chairman of The Freedom Association in the United Kingdom.
He was a leading figure in the Better Off Out campaign - the Brexit Movement, that called for the UK to leave the European Union.
Mr. Helmer is one of the founding members of Jerusalem Leaders Summit in Israel and has spoken at numerous events organized by the International Leaders Summit in Washington, DC, Brussels, and Eastern Europe.

Join America's Roundtable co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy for a conversation with Governor Bryant, the State of Mississippi, executive advisory board member, International Leaders Summit and partner at Bryant Songy Snell Global Partners. Governor Bryant served as chairman of the Southern States Energy Board (SSEB), an interstate compact composed of governors and state legislators from sixteen southern states and two territories, and chairman of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission. We focus on the challenges America faces in the energy arena, the potential impact on the nation's economy, security threats and principled solutions.
The winter storms in America's South, blackouts and the rising death toll have brought to the forefront a greater focus on America's energy policy, and the Biden Administration's push to implement the 'Green New Deal' - a commitment to 100% dependency on renewables (solar and wind) and eliminating coal, oil and natural gas as electricity sources by 2035.
Americans should take a closer look at Germany's failed renewable energy experiment with160 billion euros spent thus far (US$193 billion) on wind turbine failures. By the year 2050, the costs would add up to 2 to 3.4 trillion euros (US$ 2.4 to 4.1 trillion).
