This year, Correct Craft celebrates its 100th anniversary and plans to bring a replica of the Storm Boat used in World War II to Washington, DC. Bill Yeargin also serves as chairman of the National Marine Manufacturers Association with 1,300 member companies producing an estimated 85 percent of the boats, engines, trailers and accessories used by boaters and anglers throughout the U.S. and Canada.

The conversation highlights Bill Yeargin's recent op-ed piece in CEO World Magazine titled, "Losing Capitalism," in which he relays concerns about the strong headwinds that are blowing against the ideas of economic liberty and free markets. The timely conversation also focuses on economic polices being presented including a major tax hike on businesses which will adversely impact small companies and workers, and schemes that will halt investments in America. As tax competition for lower rates continues around the world, America may well become an economic laggard with businesses leaving its shores for low tax jurisdictions.

The Wall Street Journal's editorial board opined by stating:

"The Democratic team that brought you declining real wages is now threatening to lower your pay again. That’s the practical effect of Kamala Harris’s idea to raise the U.S. corporate tax rate to 28%, and it’s instructive that an anti-growth tax increase is one of the Vice President’s few distinctive policy priorities so far. Ms. Harris’s endorsement Monday of a 28% rate, up from the current 21%, signs onto what President Biden has been proposing."

Over the decades, there have been certain forces decrying the ills of capitalism and making unsubstantiated claims. The think tank The Institute of Economic Affairs, which offered reformer Margaret Thatcher strategic ideas on turning Great Britain away from socialism in the 1970s and 1980s states: "...but when we see such unsubstantiated claims, we should remember; the data simply doesn’t support the anti-capitalists."

The discussion also raises the concerns of skyrocketing government spending. Milton Friedman, Nobel prize winner in economics and founding partner of International Leaders Summit (the think tank which launched America's Roundtable) said: “Keep your eye on one thing and one thing only: how much government is spending, because that's the true tax … If you're not paying for it in the form of explicit taxes, you're paying for it indirectly in the form of inflation or in the form of borrowing."

Cleta Mitchell is the Chairman of Public Interest Legal Foundation and was a partner and political law attorney in the Washington, D.C. office of Foley & Lardner LLP. With more than 40 years of experience in law, politics and public policy, Ms. Mitchell advises nonprofit and issue organizations, corporations, candidates, campaigns, and individuals on state and federal campaign finance law, election law, and compliance issues related to lobbying, ethics and financial disclosure. Ms. Mitchell was a member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives from 1976-1984 where she chaired the House Appropriations and Budget Committee.

Senator Jim DeMint is the founder and chairman of The Conservative Partnership Institute in Washington, DC. DeMint represented South Carolina in the U.S. House (1999-2005) and U.S. Senate (2005-2013). Known for policy entrepreneurship, he authored leading conservative reforms to health care, education, taxes, and entitlements. Senator DeMint garnered national acclaim from conservatives for leading efforts to ban congressional earmarks, which had been the source of billions of dollars of wasteful spending for decades and led to corruption and widespread abuse. He also successfully led the fight to stop the McCain-Kennedy amnesty bill in 2007.

Senator DeMint is the founder of the Senate Conservatives Fund, which played a major role in the election of many of the Senate’s leading conservatives like Mike Lee, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Ron Johnson and Tom Cotton, among others. Dr. David Brat is dean of Liberty University's School of Business in Lynchburg, Virginia, and also serves on the International Leaders Summit’s executive advisory board. As a brilliant economist, he also served as the president of the Virginia Association of Economists and was a member of the Virginia Board of Accountancy.

As a member of Congress, Dr. David Brat served the Commonwealth of Virginia’s 7th district from 2014 to 2017. Dr. David Brat served on the House Budget Committee, and as a member of the House Freedom Caucus he led the charge in Congress for a more fiscally responsible budget process. He also served on the Education and Small Business Committees, and Chaired the subcommittee on Economic Growth, Tax and Capital Access.

His knowledge base comes from years of experience in business, as an economic consultant with Arthur Andersen and the World Bank and more than 20 years of work in higher education teaching economics and ethics. He worked with the Senate side of the Virginia General Assembly for seven years.
