Topics:

1) Update on the U.S. economy, inflation, grocery prices and cost of gas.

The inflation rate under President Biden's administration was 9.1% (year-over-year, as measured by the Consumer Price Index), which occurred in June 2022. This was the highest rate in approximately 40 years. Through President Trump's leadership on the economic front, the high inflation rate has dropped to 3%. The record high inflation under the Biden-Harris administration pushed up grocery prices to an all-time high. Congressman Fine addresses the concerns of the high cost of living with a clear explanation.

Gas prices under the Biden administration surged to a high of $5.016 per gallon for regular unleaded, recorded on June 14, 2022. Today, gas prices have dropped to a national average of $2.93, with the average gas price in Mississippi dropping to around $2.57 per gallon of regular unleaded.

Today, Democrats are running elections on "affordability" while facts clearly reveal that they created the economic crisis in the first place. It was the Biden administration's policies voted by Democratic Party members of Congress which have hurt American families and the US economy. The conversation focuses on how decent hard-working Americans will benefit from the tax cuts including no tax on tips, no tax on overtime and the removal of taxes on social security impacting retirees.

2) The rise of anti-Semitism in America with a focus on polling showing that anti-Israel sentiment is rising on the Republican side, especially among young voters.

3) President Trump's efforts to curtail the flow of drugs from Venezuela by targeting boats transporting cocaine to America. In the US, around 42 million people had used cocaine at some point in their lifetime as of 2024. An estimated 22,174 people died from a cocaine-involved overdose in 2024.

4) Bringing to the forefront how NATO member Croatia sold illicit Iranian oil stored in Croatian government facilities. The illegal scheme (operating between 2022 and 2024) where nearly one million barrels of sanctioned Iranian oil were allegedly stored in a Croatian facility before being sold as Malaysian oil to evade U.S. sanctions.

Report: "A civil forfeiture complaint was filed early this year in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia alleging that $47 million in proceeds from the sale of nearly one million barrels of Iranian petroleum is forfeitable as property of, or affording a person a source of influence over, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) or its Qods Force (IRGC-QF), designated Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs).

In fact, I just finished doing that in response to their raising some trivial little error we made, but NOT an error of our policy. Today we would like to draw attention to the Russian government’s continuing conscription of individuals from Crimea into Russia’s armed forces. Compelling persons protected by the Fourth Geneva Convention to serve in the forces of a hostile power is a grave breach of the Geneva Convention, and a violation of the obligations that the Russian Federation owes under its subscription to the Geneva Convention. Once again, a violation of international norms and behavior and commitments that the Russian Federation has made and now violates."

The reforms began in 2012 under then-Governor Phil Bryant (R), Lt. Governor Tate Reeves (R) and Speaker Philip Gunn (R).

As previously noted by Laurie Todd-Smith in a 2023 Magnolia Tribune column on the making of the “Mississippi Miracle,” only 33 percent of third graders and 32 percent of 8th graders were reading proficiently on state tests that year. She led the governor’s education policy team and is now the Assistant Secretary for Early Childhood Education at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Bryant presented lawmakers with an education vision titled “Framing Mississippi’s Future” and in 2013, reforms such as the Literacy Based Promotion Act (3rd Grade Reading Gate), the Pre-K Collaborative, the Mississippi Charter School Act, Dyslexia Education Scholarships, and more were passed and signed into law.

Mississippi unites with Israel at Jerusalem Leaders Summit

Jerusalem | Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant bounded on stage and, in his obvious Southern drawl, greeted the guests of the Jerusalem Leaders Summit, which took place last month at the Inbal hotel.

Bryant was presented with the Distinguished Leadership Award for his efforts to strengthen the Israel-U.S. strategic partnership. He is a strong Israel advocate and his emotions were on full display when he addressed the crowd.

“We have so many friends around the world,” he said, “but none as close, and none that I love more than Israel. I am called to be here. Perhaps sometimes we cannot explain exactly why, but that call, that voice, is stronger than any other that we hear, to come to Israel, to Jerusalem, to do what I can to strengthen this relationship.”

The Third Jerusalem Leaders Summit held from Nov. 18-20, proved a unique event featuring leading voices who articulated principled solutions in addressing the 21st-century’s economic concerns, global threats and security challenges.

The Veterans’ Assuring Critical Care Expansions to Support Service members (ACCESS) Act of 2025 would establish existing community care access standards as the baseline standard of care for veterans seeking care in the community, increase access to life-saving treatment programs for veterans with mental health conditions or addiction and expand the list of criteria VA is required to take into account when determining whether it is in a veteran’s best medical interest to refer a veteran to the community to include veteran preference and continuity of care.

Rep. Mike Bost is proud to represent the 34 counties of Illinois’ 12th District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Sworn into office on January 6, 2015, Mike is continuing the fight for our Southern Illinois’ values in Washington – a fight he began in U.S. military, then as a first responder, a local job creator, and a state representative.

Analyst Gordon G. Chang warns that Xi Jinping believes he must destroy America to accomplish his objectives. And that Xi already has a plan to do it. Xi reveres Mao and is marching China back to Maoism. He is reinstituting totalitarian social controls, demanding absolute political obedience from everyone, and cutting foreign links. Closing China off from the world is an essential element of his plan to save the communist system. His isolationism and xenophobia evoke policies from the earliest years of the People's Republic and during the two millennia of imperial rule. And Xi can't stop talking about war. More significantly, he is implementing the largest military buildup since the Second World War, he is trying to sanctions-proof the Chinese regime, he is stockpiling grain and other commodities, he is surveying America for strikes and sabotage, he is mobilizing China's civilians for battle, and he is purging China's military of officers opposed to going to war.

Senator Marsha Blackburn serves as the Ranking Member on the Commerce Subcommittee on Consumer Protection, Product Safety, and Data Security and on the Judiciary Subcommittee on Human Rights and the Law. Before her election to the Senate, Marsha represented Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives.

Throughout her time in Congress, Marsha has led the fight to hold Communist China accountable. Her in-depth analyses of the Chinese Communist Party’s threats to American sovereignty have prompted Congress to examine legislation countering Beijing’s malign influence on global supply chains, technology infrastructure, and international organizations.

After Beijing took over the once autonomous region of Hong Kong in 2019, Marsha led bipartisan legislation, which was signed into law by President Trump, that prohibits the U.S. export of crowd control equipment to the Hong Kong Police Force. Her bipartisan Open Technology Fund Authorization Act, which supports internet freedom by addressing authoritarian regimes’ efforts to censor the internet, was also signed into law.

At the same time Marsha has stood up to Communist China, she has worked to bolster the U.S.-Taiwan relationship. In August 2022, she visited Taiwan, met with President Tsai Ing-wen in Taipei, and called to strengthen connections between the U.S. and Taiwan. During this visit, Marsha made her stance clear: Taiwan is a country.

On border policy, Marsha bases her approach on the simple truth that until our borders are secure, every town will be a border town and every state will be a border state. In the Senate, she has led the charge to fully fund the United States Border Patrol, restart construction of a physical barrier, impose harsher criminal penalties for drug smuggling, and fight for law and order on behalf of the thousands of women and girls lost to cross-border human trafficking.

Carter's tireless efforts led the foundational cornerstone for treaties with Israel's Arab neighbors including Jordan and later through the Trump Administration's Abraham Accords.

Ambassador Eizenstat also shares about his personal friendship with the former president. He was at Jimmy Carter’s side from his political rise in Georgia through four years in the White House, where he served as Chief Domestic Policy Adviser. He was directly involved in all domestic and economic decisions as well as in many foreign policy ones. The conversation on America's Roundtable also brings to the forefront President Carter's bold economic reforms and how he came to be called the "Champion of Deregulation" by former Senator Phil Gramm (R-TX), a fiscal conservative leader.

In an op-ed piece in The Wall Street Journal, Senator Gramm stated, " The Carter administration began oil-price deregulation using its regulatory powers and set in place the gradual deregulation of natural-gas prices with the 1978 Natural Gas Policy Act. And while the deregulation of the communications industry was driven by technological change, court decisions, regulatory action and finally legislation, the Carter regulatory reform through the Federal Communications Commission made competition the driving force in the development of policy. Energy deregulation, championed by Mr. Carter and then by Ronald Reagan, produced abundant oil and gas supplies."

Brief bio:

During a decade and a half of public service in six U.S. administrations, Ambassador Eizenstat has held a number of key senior positions, including Chief White House Domestic Policy Adviser to President Jimmy Carter (1977-1981); U.S. Ambassador to the European Union, Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, Under Secretary of State for Economic, Business and Agricultural Affairs, and Deputy Secretary of the Treasury in the Clinton Administration (1993-2001).

His recommendation to President Carter to create the Presidential Commission on the Holocaust headed by Elie Wiesel led directly to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, for which he is recognized as a key founder. Ambassador Eizenstat is an author of "President Carter: The White House Years" and "The Art of Diplomacy"

During the Trump administration, he was appointed by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as Expert Adviser to the State Department on Holocaust-Era Issues (2018-2021).

In the Biden administration, serving as Special Adviser to Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Holocaust Issues, he played a major role in the negotiation of the Best Practices for the Washington Principles on Nazi-Confiscated Art (2024), now supported by 25 countries.

He was appointed by President Biden as Chairman of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Council (2022-present). Since 2009, he has served as pro bono Special Negotiator for the Jewish Claims Conference in negotiations with the German government, obtaining billions of dollars of benefits for poor Holocaust survivors, for home care, social and medical services, enhanced pensions, hardship payments, child survivor and Kindertransport survivors, special supplemental payments for the poorest of the poor, and worldwide educational benefits.

Dr. Laffer’s career has been marked by experience and success in business, in public policy, and as an academic economist and professor.
During the 1970s, Dr. Laffer was a consultant to Secretaries of the Treasury George Shultz and William Simon and Chief of Staff and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. He was the first to hold the title of Chief Economist at the Office of Management and Budget under Secretary of the Treasury George Shultz in the early 1970s.

Dr. Laffer was a member of President Reagan’s Economic Policy Advisory Board for both of his two terms (1981-1989). He also advised Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher on fiscal policy in the U.K. during the 1980s.

Dr. Laffer’s economic acumen and influence in triggering a world-wide tax-cutting movement in the 1980s have earned him the distinction in many publications as “The Father of Supply-Side Economics.” His Laffer Curve is one of the main theoretical constructs of supply-side economics.

Dr. Laffer’s career has been marked by experience and success in business, in public policy, and as an academic economist and professor.
During the 1970s, Dr. Laffer was a consultant to Secretaries of the Treasury George Shultz and William Simon and Chief of Staff and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. He was the first to hold the title of Chief Economist at the Office of Management and Budget under Secretary of the Treasury George Shultz in the early 1970s.

Dr. Laffer was a member of President Reagan’s Economic Policy Advisory Board for both of his two terms (1981-1989). He also advised Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher on fiscal policy in the U.K. during the 1980s.

Dr. Laffer’s economic acumen and influence in triggering a world-wide tax-cutting movement in the 1980s have earned him the distinction in many publications as “The Father of Supply-Side Economics.” His Laffer Curve is one of the main theoretical constructs of supply-side economics.

Dr. Laffer was an economic advisor to Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign. In 2019, President Trump awarded DR. Laffer with the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his contributions in the field of economics.

He has received numerous awards and recognition for his economic work and authored a number of books, including the End of Prosperity: How Higher Taxes Will Doom the Economy—If We Let it Happen, and most recently Return to Prosperity and Trumponomics.

Dr. Laffer currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee where he is the founder and chairman of Laffer Associates, an institutional economic research and consulting firm.

Victor Davis Hanson is the Martin and Illie Anderson Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution; his focus is classics and military history.

Hanson was a National Endowment for the Humanities fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies in the Behavioral Sciences, Stanford, California (1992–93), a visiting professor of classics at Stanford University (1991–92), the annual Wayne and Marcia Buske Distinguished Visiting Fellow in History at Hillsdale College (2004–), the Visiting Shifron Professor of Military History at the US Naval Academy (2002–3), and the William Simon Visiting Professor of Public Policy at Pepperdine University (2010).

In 1991 he was awarded an American Philological Association Excellence in Teaching Award. He received the Eric Breindel Award for Excellence in Opinion Journalism (2002), presented the Manhattan's Institute's Wriston Lecture (2004), and was awarded the National Humanities Medal (2007) and the Bradley Prize (2008). Hanson is the author of hundreds of articles, book reviews, and newspaper editorials on Greek, agrarian, and military history and essays on contemporary culture.

He has written or edited twenty-four books, the latest of which is The Case for Trump (Basic Books, 2019). Bio | Congressman Doug Lamborn

In Colorado, Doug was called to public office and served in the Colorado General Assembly from 1995 to 2006, in both the State House and State Senate. During his time in the Colorado Legislature, Doug was elected Senate President Pro-Tem, served as Chairman of the Senate State Military and Veterans Affairs Committee, Chairman of the Senate Republican Caucus, and House Majority Whip.

Doug was then elected to the US House of Representatives in 2006 to represent Colorado's Fifth District. Colorado's Fifth District, based in Colorado Springs, is one of our nation's most military-intensive congressional districts and the home to more than 100,000 veterans who have served our country with distinction and honor. Because of the district's military and veteran concentration, Doug serves as a high-ranking member on the House Armed Services Committee and a former member for ten years of the Veterans Affairs Committee. In these roles, he has protected important national defense funding, programs, and missions and has fought hard for the right of veterans to receive the healthcare they have earned.

Additionally, the Congressman has worked since his first day in office to bring about a dignified and fitting National Veterans Cemetery to the Pikes Peak Region, which is now completed. Additionally, Doug currently serves as the Chairman of the Strategic Forces Subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee. The Strategic Forces Subcommittee has jurisdiction over Department of Defense and Department of Energy policy related to strategic deterrence, strategic stability, nuclear weapons, strategic and nuclear arms control, nonproliferation, nuclear safety, missile defense, and space; Department of Defense programs and accounts related to nuclear weapons, strategic missiles, nuclear command and control systems, Department of Defense intelligence space, space systems and services of the military departments, and intermediate and long-range missile defense systems; and Department of Energy national security programs and accounts.

Doug also serves on the House Natural Resources Committee and its subcommittee on National Parks, Forests, and Public Lands, and the Energy and Mineral Resources subcommittee. The Subcommittee on Federal Lands is responsible for all matters related to the National Park System, U.S. Forests, public lands, and national monuments. The Energy and Mineral Resources subcommittee oversees public resources on public lands, including offshore energy development. Throughout his time in public service, Doug has been a leader on pro-family and small business issues, a strong advocate for our veterans and our military, and a supporter of lower taxes, immigration reform, less government spending, and protection of the Second Amendment.

Doug is married to Jeanie, his wife of 47 years and an accomplished artist and former teacher at the Bemis School of Art in Colorado Springs. The Lamborn's have also raised five extremely successful children. Their four sons were Eagle Scouts and, among them, have served as a doctor, in the military, as an attorney, and as a member of the film industry in Los Angeles.

The Wall Street Journal in a report on July 3, 2024 stated, "The Fed raised rates at the fastest pace in 40 years in 2022 and 2023 to combat inflation that also rose to a four-decade high. They have held their benchmark rate in a range between 5.25% and 5.5% since last July."

Ambassador Hoekstra represented the United States as Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Details: About 245,000 Holocaust survivors are living across more than 90 countries, according to a report released Tuesday by the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany (Claims Conference).

• The vast majority (95%) are child survivors born between 1928 and 1946.
• The median age of survivors is 86, and around 61% are women.
• Roughly half of the survivors live in Israel, while 16% reside in the United States, the country with the second largest percentage, the study found.
  

Around a third of the survivors in the U.S. are living in poverty, Greg Schneider, executive vice president of the Claims Conference, tells Axios.

Zoom in: 40% of survivors worldwide access or have accessed social welfare services from over 300 agencies that receive grants administered by the Claims Conference.

Stuart E. Eizenstat of Washington, DC, is Chair of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council. He previously served as a member from 2001–2004.

He is a senior member of Covington & Burling LLP’s international practice. During his public service in four administrations, Ambassador Eizenstat served as chief White House domestic policy adviser to President Carter and held a number of key roles in the Clinton Administration, including Ambassador to the European Union; Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade; Under Secretary of State for Economic, Business, and Agricultural Affairs; and Deputy Secretary of the Treasury. He served as a member of the White House staff for President Johnson. He has made Holocaust justice and memory a major part of his career.

During the Carter Administration, Ambassador Eizenstat recommended a President’s Commission on the Holocaust chaired by Elie Wiesel and helped draft the legislation authorizing creation of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

President Trump nominated Sam to serve as Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom in 2017. He resigned as Governor of Kansas on January 31, 2018 and was sworn in to his diplomatic post the next day. He served as Ambassador until January 2021.

He currently serves as co-chair of the International Religious Freedom Summit and is a Senior Fellow with Global Christian Relief. He is also chairman of the National Committee for Religious Freedom.

Benjamin S. Carson, Sr., M.D.

For a time, the likelihood of Benjamin S. Carson, Sr., M.D. fulfilling his childhood dream of becoming a physician seemed unlikely. Growing up in a single parent home with dire poverty, poor grades, a horrible temper, and low self-esteem appeared to preclude the realization of that dream until his mother, with only a third-grade education, challenged her sons to strive for excellence. She observed successful people and encouraged her sons to emulate their behaviors, including reading. This led to behavior changes which had a profound effect on their education. In 1973, Ben Carson graduated from Yale University. He went on to receive his M.D. from the University of Michigan Medical School.

At the age of 33, Dr. Carson became the chief of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, making him the youngest major division director in the hospital’s history. This would be among an extensive list of outstanding firsts for Dr. Carson. Dr. Carson’s accomplishments have earned him a place in medical history. He performed the first and only successful separation of craniopagus (Siamese) twins joined at the back of the head in 1987. He also performed the first fully successful separation of type-2 vertical craniopagus twins in 1997 in South Africa. In his career, Dr. Carson became a professor of neurosurgery, oncology, plastic surgery, and pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and directed pediatric neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center for over 29 years. He became the inaugural recipient of a professorship dedicated in his name in May 2008. He is now the Emeritus Benjamin S. Carson, Sr., M.D. and Dr. Evelyn Spiro, R.N. Professor of Pediatric Neurosurgery, having retired on June 30, 2013.

In 2016, Dr. Carson accepted the position of Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under the Trump administration. After completing his tenure as the 17th Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development in 2021, Dr. Carson founded the American Cornerstone Institute. This organization is focused on fighting for the principles that have guided him through life and that make this country great: faith, liberty, community and life.

Mr. Abramowitz oversees a unique combination of analysis, advocacy, and direct support to frontline defenders of freedom, especially those working in closed authoritarian societies. About Freedom House | History

Freedom House is the oldest American organization devoted to the support and defense of democracy around the world. It was formally established in New York in 1941 to promote American involvement in World War II and the fight against fascism.

From the beginning, Freedom House was notable for its bipartisan support. Freedom House's founders were prominent and influential leaders from the fields of business and labor, journalism, academia, and government. A central figure among its early leaders was First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. Wendell Willkie, the Republican presidential nominee who ran against President Roosevelt in 1940, was also an ardent supporter and served as honorary co-chair along with Mrs. Roosevelt.
Initially, the mission of Freedom House was to counter isolationism, a powerful force promoted by the America First Committee. At the time, ninety percent of American citizens were opposed to involvement in the European war, even as Nazi tanks rolled across the continent and concentration camps began to fill with people. The leaders of Freedom House argued that Hitler posed a grave threat to American security and values.

Victor Davis Hanson is the Martin and Illie Anderson Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution; his focus is classics and military history.

Hanson was a National Endowment for the Humanities fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies in the Behavioral Sciences, Stanford, California (1992–93), a visiting professor of classics at Stanford University (1991–92), the annual Wayne and Marcia Buske Distinguished Visiting Fellow in History at Hillsdale College (2004–), the Visiting Shifron Professor of Military History at the US Naval Academy (2002–3),and the William Simon Visiting Professor of Public Policy at Pepperdine University (2010).

In 1991 he was awarded an American Philological Association Excellence in Teaching Award. He received the Eric Breindel Award for Excellence in Opinion Journalism (2002), presented the Manhattan's Institute's Wriston Lecture (2004), and was awarded the National Humanities Medal (2007) and the Bradley Prize (2008).

Hanson is the author of hundreds of articles, book reviews, and newspaper editorials on Greek, agrarian, and military history and essays on contemporary culture. He has written or edited twenty-four books, the latest of which is The Case for Trump (Basic Books, 2019). His other books include The Second World Wars (Basic Books, 2017); The Savior Generals: How Five Great Commanders Saved Wars That Were Lost - from Ancient Greece to Iraq (Bloomsbury 2013); The End of Sparta (Bloomsbury, 2011); The Father of Us All: War and History, Ancient and Modern (Bloomsbury, 2010); Makers of Ancient Strategy: From the Persian Wars to the Fall of Rome (ed.) Ambassador James Gilmore who served as America's top diplomat to the Organization for Security and Cooperation (OSCE) in Vienna, Austria, from 2019-2021, provides a timely and relevant analysis of the conflict impacting the European continent, and how Russia's invasion of Ukraine impacts the national security of the United States. James S. Gilmore III was appointed by President Donald Trump to be Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the Organization for Security and Cooperation (OSCE) in Vienna, Austria in 2019. He was confirmed unanimously by the U.S. Senate. As ambassador, he headed a mission devoted to the security issues of the 57 member countries, involving matters of geopolitics, arms control, economics and human rights.

Ambassador Gilmore was elected the 68th Governor of Virginia in 1997. Governor Gilmore traveled extensively on behalf of business development for Virginia, visiting sixteen countries on three continents.

He was a candidate for President of the United States in 2008 and 2016.From 1999 to 2003 Ambassador chaired the Congressional Advisory Panel to Assess Domestic Response Capabilities for Terrorism Involving Weapons of Mass Destruction, more commonly referred to as the “Gilmore Commission”. The Commission warned of the dangers of an attack on the homeland prior to the 9-11 attacks on New York and at the Pentagon, and issued two additional reports thereafter. Ambassador Gilmore was appointed Chairman of the Board of Visitors of the U.S. Air Force Academy from 2002-2005 by President George W. Bush, and was awarded the Air Force Exceptional Service Medal in 2006.

Ambassador Gilmore served in the U.S. Army from 1971-1974, and was awarded the Joint Service Commendation Medal for service in the Military Intelligence to a multi-national military command headquartered in West Germany.

Before coming to Liberty, Dr. Brat served in the United States Congress for Virginia’s 7th District. He served on the Budget, Education and Small Business Committees, and Chaired the subcommittee on Economic Growth, Tax and Capital Access.
His knowledge base comes from years of experience in business, as an economic consultant with Arthur Andersen and the World Bank and 20+ years of work in higher education teaching economics and ethics. At the conclusion of his term as Governor of Virginia, George Allen viewed with satisfaction the monumental reforms his administration achieved that made Virginia a national model in economic development, public safety, education accountability, and welfare reform.

The Washington Post called Allen “one of the most influential governors in recent Virginia history”.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch recently praised Allen’s campaign “among the most policy-driven campaigns in gubernatorial history.”

Keeping the promises he made to Virginians, and working with a Democratic-controlled General Assembly, Allen successfully cut taxes by more than $600 million; instituted high academic Standards of Learning and School Performance Report Cards; made neighborhoods safer with the abolition of parole; initiated historic, pro-work welfare reforms; enacted the nation’s first Public-Private Transportation funding system; repealed or amended 71% of all regulations; reduced the size of government with greater efficiency and accountability; and grew the economy – making sure the world knew “Virginia is Open for Business”. With added revenues, Allen was able to freeze tuition rates at universities and community colleges.

Allen’s administration recruited over $13 billion in new investments and created more than 300,000 net new private sector jobs. When Allen was sworn in as Governor in 1994, coal and cigarettes were Virginia’s top exports; after four years of Allen’s tireless dedication to economic-development, semiconductor chips became Virginia’s top export, leading U.S. News and World Report to dub Virginia the “Silicon Dominion”.

According to The Wall Street Journal, "Some 83% of respondents described the state of the economy as poor or not so good. More than one-third, or 35%, said they aren’t satisfied at all with their financial situation. That was the highest level of dissatisfaction since NORC began asking the question every few years starting in 1972 as part of the General Social Survey."

The discussion will also bring to the forefront the Biden administration's efforts to loosen up federal patent rules, thus opening the door for high-tech companies backed by the Chinese government to raid American inventions in the highly coveted 5G space.

According to The Washington Examiner, "...three GOP senators are also warning that in watering down intellectual property protections, the administration could be jeopardizing national security at a time when China and other potential foes are outspending the United States on 21st-century technology by a mile.”

"In her answer, Judge Jackson accurately identifies the Declaration of Independence as one of the leading explications of natural rights in American history. But if she has no position on natural rights, as she wrote in response to Senator Cruz, then she has no position on the Declaration of Independence. Her answers did not come under the pressured circumstances of live hearings, but instead came as written answers to written questions after the end of her Judiciary Committee hearings. We should view them not as a mistake, but as her carefully considered views on the matter. Again, she puts herself in opposition to the Great Emancipator, who once said “I never had a feeling politically that did not spring from the sentiments embodied in the Declaration of Independence.” In an 1859 letter, Lincoln memorably wrote on the occasion of Thomas Jefferson’s birthday:

Biography: John Yoo

John Yoo is the Emanuel Heller Professor of Law at the University of California at Berkeley. He is also a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, and a Visiting Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University.

His tenth book, Defender-in-Chief: Trump’s Fight for Presidential Power, was published by St. Martin’s Press in 2020. Professor Yoo’s other books include Striking Power: How Cyber, Robots, and Space Weapons Change the Rules for War, Point of Attack: Preventive War, International Law, and Global Welfare, and Crisis and Command: A History of Executive Power from George Washington to George Bush.

Professor Yoo has published more than 100 articles in academic journals on subjects including national security, constitutional law, international law, and the Supreme Court. He also regularly contributes to the editorial pages of the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, and National Review, among others.

Professor Yoo has served in all three branches of government. He was an official in the U.S. Department of Justice, where he worked on national security and terrorism issues after the 9/11 attacks. He served as general counsel of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. He has been a law clerk for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and federal appeals Judge Laurence Silberman. He has been a visiting professor at Seoul National University in South Korea, the Interdisciplinary Center in Israel, Keio University in Japan, Trento University in Italy, the University of Chicago, and the Free University of Amsterdam.

Professor Yoo supervises the Public Law and Policy Program, the Korea Law Center, and the California Constitution Center. He also serves on the boards of the Pacific Legal Foundation, the Federalist Society’s Separation of Powers and Federalism Division, the Universidad Cientifica del Sur Law School, and the Asia-Pacific Law Institute at Seoul National University. He is a winner of the Federalist Society’s Paul Bator award.

Rainer Saks, a former chief of the Estonian foreign intelligence and a former chief of staff of the Estonian foreign ministry, said the Russian leadership thinks the Western countries are weak and therefore Russia hopes it will end Ukraine’s Western integration.

“The way Russia operates towards Ukraine comes from the fact that it regards the Western reactions essentially non-existent,” Saks said on a radio programme called “Vikerhommik”. “Russia thinks it can act and it regards the Western countries as weak. And the question is not whether the Western states actually are weak, the question is how Russia sees them.”

He said it was a paradox of a historical window that Russia’s leadership has defined the current time window as the ending of Ukraine’s integration towards the West. “And I’m not talking about stopping it, but finishing. Ending forever. That’s why this is happening.” Saks also noted on the Estonian Public Broadcasting radio programme that if the Western countries impose sanctions on Russia, then the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, is prepared to strategically suffer through them.

Governor Bryant’s dedicated focus on economic development yielded more than $8 billion in private sector investment in Mississippi as well as the largest economic project in state history—a landmark agreement with Continental Tire to build a major manufacturing facility in central Mississippi and create more than 2,500 new jobs.

Governor Bryant dovetailed public education reforms with a strong focus on workforce training programs and job creation. His administration worked to improve career-technical training programs and their delivery through Mississippi’s top-rated community and junior college system, pairing program offerings with local workforce opportunities and collaborating with the K-12 system to strengthen high school vocational programs.

He worked closely with the University of Mississippi Medical Center to build a new School of Medicine and to increase the number of graduating physicians each year; to position Mississippi as a national leader in telemedicine services and technology; and to create a state-of-the-art residential facility to care for medically fragile children.

Governor Bryant served as chairman of the Education Commission of the States; chairman of the Southern States Energy Board; chairman of Jobs for America’s Graduates; and chairman of the Royal Commonwealth Society of the United States.

Rep. Mike Bost is proud to represent the 12 counties of Illinois’ 12th District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Sworn into office on January 6, 2015, Mike is continuing the fight for our Southern Illinois’ values in Washington – a fight he began in U.S. military, then as a first responder, a local job creator, and a state representative.

In the 117th Congress, Rep. Bost serves on two key committees: Veterans’ Affairs, and Transportation & Infrastructure. On the Veterans' Affairs Committee he serves as the Ranking Member, the top Republican on the Committee.

Prior to his election to Congress, Rep. Bost served for two decades in the Illinois House of Representatives, rising to the leadership position of House Republican Caucus Chair.

Rep. Bost also served as a firefighter for the Murphysboro Fire Department. He graduated from the University of Illinois' Certified Firefighter II Academy in 1993 and continued to serve the Murphysboro Fire Department during his six terms as state representative. Prior to that, Rep. Bost worked for 13 years at Bost Trucking Service, first as a driver and then for 10 years as a truck manager.

Rep. Bost is a lifelong resident of Murphysboro. He graduated from Murphysboro High School in 1979.

After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps serving his country from 1979 to 1982. He was trained as an electronic specialist and radar repairman and received an honorable discharge as a Corporal E-4.

In addition to his duties as a Member of Congress, Rep. Bost is very active in his church and community. Rep. Bost and his wife, Tracy, own and operate a small business – the White House Salon – in Murphysboro.

We review the policies proposed at the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (also known as COP26) held in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom. Roger Helmer shares his concerns about the current energy crisis in Europe - and how the transition to renewable sources of energy may adversely impact Americans. "The ongoing energy crisis in Europe has shown how nations will experience "growing pains" from a switch to renewable sources of energy including wind power, according to experts who spoke to Newsweek. The situation across the Atlantic may provide a warning for the U.S., with President Joe Biden having set a goal to decarbonize the nation's power grid by 2035 and the whole U.S. economy by 2050. Decarbonizing the power grid will involve a transition to renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power, which can be less reliable than traditional fossil fuels. Europe's recent experience with wind turbines could be instructive for the United States. Energy and transport ministers from 27 European Union (EU) countries gathered for an emergency meeting in Luxembourg on Tuesday amid rising fuel costs on the continent. The crisis has come amid a 20 percent reduction in output in the wind power sector and and rising costs of oil and gas, as reported by Forbes."

Roger Helmer served in the political arena as a member of the European Parliament representing the United Kingdom and serving in the Conservative and the UKIP parties, respectively. He started his business career in 1965 with Procter & Gamble, going on to hold senior marketing and general management appointments in a range of companies, including Readers Digest and National Semiconductor.

Mr. Helmer has published two books on European issues, "Straight Talking on Europe" in 2000, and "A Declaration of Independence" in 2002. He also served as Chairman of The Freedom Association in the United Kingdom.

He was a leading figure in the Better Off Out campaign - the Brexit Movement, that called for the UK to leave the European Union.

Dr. David Brat is dean of Liberty University's School of Business in Lynchburg, Virginia, and also serves on the International Leaders Summit’s executive advisory board. As a brilliant economist, he also served as the president of the Virginia Association of Economists and was a member of the Virginia Board of Accountancy.

As a member of Congress, Dr. David Brat served the Commonwealth of Virginia’s 7th district from 2014 to 2017. Dr. David Brat served on the House Budget Committee, and as a member of the House Freedom Caucus he led the charge in Congress for a more fiscally responsible budget process. He also served on the Education and Small Business Committees, and Chaired the subcommittee on Economic Growth, Tax and Capital Access.

His knowledge base comes from years of experience in business, as an economic consultant with Arthur Andersen and the World Bank and more than 20 years of work in higher education teaching economics and ethics. He worked with the Senate side of the Virginia General Assembly for seven years.
