Over the years, a new generation of Americans are favoring socialism with an awe of communism over capitalism.

According to a published report:

A recent Cato/YouGov survey conducted in March asked 2,000 American adults a range of questions about U.S. fiscal policy. The survey found that 62 percent of adults under age 30 expressed a favorable view of socialism, while just 38 percent held an unfavorable view.

When asked, “Do you have a favorable or unfavorable view of Communism?”, 34 percent of respondents aged 18–29 answered “favorable,” with 66 percent answering “unfavorable.” Only 14 percent of total respondents held a favorable view of communism.

Vladimir Jaffe is the owner of Palace Imports, a company specializing in solid wood furniture sourced from Africa, Europe, South America, and Mexico, sold online through retailers such as Macy’s, Wayfair, Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond and Overstock and others. Since becoming a U.S. citizen in 1993, Vladimir has remained politically active and is deeply involved in supporting Jewish organizations and initiatives.

He is a board member of the Israel Justice Organization and a dedicated supporter of America’s conservative movement and the vision articulated by President Donald Trump in advancing freedom and reforms based on the rule of law.

Bill Yeargin also serves as chairman of the National Marine Manufacturers Association with 1,300 member companies producing an estimated 85 percent of the boats, engines, trailers and accessories used by boaters and anglers throughout the U.S. and Canada.

The Wall Street Journal's editorial board opined by stating:

"The Democratic team that brought you declining real wages is now threatening to lower your pay again. That’s the practical effect of Kamala Harris’s idea to raise the U.S. corporate tax rate to 28%, and it’s instructive that an anti-growth tax increase is one of the Vice President’s few distinctive policy priorities so far. Ms. Harris’s endorsement Monday of a 28% rate, up from the current 21%, signs onto what President Biden has been proposing."

Over the decades, there have been certain forces decrying the ills of capitalism and making unsubstantiated claims. The think tank The Institute of Economic Affairs, which offered reformer Margaret Thatcher strategic ideas on turning Great Britain away from socialism in the 1970s and 1980s states: "...but when we see such unsubstantiated claims, we should remember; the data simply doesn’t support the anti-capitalists."

The discussion also raises the concerns of skyrocketing government spending. Milton Friedman, Nobel prize winner in economics and founding partner of International Leaders Summit (the think tank which launched America's Roundtable) said: “Keep your eye on one thing and one thing only: how much government is spending, because that's the true tax … If you're not paying for it in the form of explicit taxes, you're paying for it indirectly in the form of inflation or in the form of borrowing."

The conversation with Eric Trump focuses on the state of America's economy and Kamala Harris's proposed tax hike by increasing business taxes from 21% to 28% which will adversely affect workers and small business owners. Harris is also pushing price controls which is a throwback to the days of a Soviet-style "command and control structure," and policies that destroyed economies in communist Eastern Europe, modern-day Venezuela and Zimbabwe.

The open border policy which has made every state a "border state" will be brought to the forefront with an internal crisis within the US of some 13 million coming into the nation illegally and now depending on taxpayer paid services.

The policy of peace through once implemented through the Reagan and Trump administrations have been replaced by a concerted effort to appease America's adversaries including China, Iran and Russia.

The Harris Plan to Lower Your Wages
The Vice President wants to raise the corporate tax rate from 21% to 28%, which will ultimately be paid by workers.

_U.S. companies during the Obama Administration often moved their headquarters to lower tax climes such as Ireland to avoid the high U.S. tax rate that made them less globally competitive. The Business Roundtable estimates that some $2.5 trillion in income earned abroad returned to the U.S. as a result of Mr. Trump’s 2017 reform. _

Ms. Harris pitches her 28% rate as merely punishing big companies, but economists of all stripes agree that U.S. workers pay for higher corporate taxes in lower wages. The corporate rate cut contributed to the strong pre-Covid U.S. economy in 2018 and 2019 with growing wages that many voters say they miss.

_The current U.S. corporate rate is above 25% when state corporate taxes are included, and the Harris increase would again make the U.S. a world outlier at above 30%. The OECD statutory average is a little north of 23%, and the European Union’s is lower at roughly 21%, according to the Tax Foundation. The average in Asia? About 19%. _

The next President will put his or her mark on America’s global competitiveness when many of the 2017 tax cuts expire in 2025, and on this score voters are getting a clear choice. Mr. Trump has suggested lowering the corporate rate to 15%. He can make this part of a larger theme of faster growth and rising incomes if he explains to voters what Ms. Harris’s tax increase means for average workers._"

Bio | Victor Davis Hanson

Victor Davis Hanson is the Martin and Illie Anderson Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution; his focus is classics and military history.

Hanson was a National Endowment for the Humanities fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies in the Behavioral Sciences, Stanford, California (1992–93), a visiting professor of classics at Stanford University (1991–92), the annual Wayne and Marcia Buske Distinguished Visiting Fellow in History at Hillsdale College (2004–), the Visiting Shifron Professor of Military History at the US Naval Academy (2002–3), and the William Simon Visiting Professor of Public Policy at Pepperdine University (2010).

In 1991 he was awarded an American Philological Association Excellence in Teaching Award. He received the Eric Breindel Award for Excellence in Opinion Journalism (2002), presented the Manhattan's Institute's Wriston Lecture (2004), and was awarded the National Humanities Medal (2007) and the Bradley Prize (2008). Hanson is the author of hundreds of articles, book reviews, and newspaper editorials on Greek, agrarian, and military history and essays on contemporary culture.

Victor Davis Hanson is the Martin and Illie Anderson Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution; his focus is classics and military history.

Hanson was a National Endowment for the Humanities fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies in the Behavioral Sciences, Stanford, California (1992–93), a visiting professor of classics at Stanford University (1991–92), the annual Wayne and Marcia Buske Distinguished Visiting Fellow in History at Hillsdale College (2004–), the Visiting Shifron Professor of Military History at the US Naval Academy (2002–3),and the William Simon Visiting Professor of Public Policy at Pepperdine University (2010).

In 1991 he was awarded an American Philological Association Excellence in Teaching Award. He received the Eric Breindel Award for Excellence in Opinion Journalism (2002), presented the Manhattan's Institute's Wriston Lecture (2004), and was awarded the National Humanities Medal (2007) and the Bradley Prize (2008).

Hanson is the author of hundreds of articles, book reviews, and newspaper editorials on Greek, agrarian, and military history and essays on contemporary culture. He has written or edited twenty-four books, the latest of which is The Case for Trump (Basic Books, 2019). Peter Robinson is the Murdoch Distinguished Policy Fellow at the Hoover Institution, where he writes about business and politics, edits Hoover's quarterly journal, the Hoover Digest, and hosts Hoover's video series program, Uncommon Knowledge™.

Robinson spent six years in the White House, serving from 1982 to 1983 as chief speechwriter to Vice President George Bush and from 1983 to 1988 as special assistant and speechwriter to President Ronald Reagan. He wrote the historic Berlin Wall address in which President Reagan called on General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev to "tear down this wall!"

The conversation will begin by focusing on the 33rd anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. On November 9, 1989, five days after a major peaceful protest in East Berlin which gathered half a million people, the communist rulers gave permission for gates along the Berlin Wall to be opened. The fall of Communist Eastern Europe was hastened by the principled leadership of President Ronald Reagan joined by then-UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, Pope John Paul II, Germany's Helmut Kohl, Vaclav Havel, leaders within Poland, and other countries in the Soviet block yearning for freedom.

The historic day reminded the world of a speech that was delivered on June 12, 1987 by President Ronald Reagan when he shared these words:

"_Behind me stands a wall that encircles the free sectors of this city, part of a vast system of barriers that divides the entire continent of Europe. . . . Standing before the Brandenburg Gate, every man is a German, separated from his fellow men. Every man is a Berliner, forced to look upon a scar. . . . Bio | Peter M. Robinson

Peter M. Robinson is the Murdoch Distinguished Policy Fellow at the Hoover Institution, where he writes about business and politics, edits Hoover's quarterly journal, the Hoover Digest, and hosts Hoover's video series program, Uncommon Knowledge™.

Robinson is also the author of three books: How Ronald Reagan Changed My Life (Regan Books, 2003); It's My Party: A Republican's Messy Love Affair with the GOP, (Warner Books, 2000); and the best-selling business book Snapshots from Hell: The Making of an MBA (Warner Books, 1994; still available in paperback).

In 1979, he graduated summa cum laude from Dartmouth College, where he majored in English. He went on to study politics, philosophy, and economics at Oxford University, from which he graduated in 1982.

Robinson spent six years in the White House, serving from 1982 to 1983 as chief speechwriter to Vice President George Bush and from 1983 to 1988 as special assistant and speechwriter to President Ronald Reagan. He wrote the historic Berlin Wall address in which President Reagan called on General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev to "tear down this wall!"

After the White House, Robinson attended the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. (The journal he kept formed the basis for Snapshots from Hell.) He graduated with an MBA in 1990.

Robinson then spent a year in New York City with Fox Television, reporting to the owner of the company, Rupert Murdoch. He spent a second year in Washington, D.C., with the Securities and Exchange Commission, where he served as the director of the Office of Public Affairs, Policy Evaluation, and Research. Robinson joined the Hoover Institution in 1993.

The author of numerous essays and interviews, Robinson has published in the New York Times, Red Herring, and Forbes ASAP, the Wall Street Journal, and National Review Online. He is the editor of Can Congress Be Fixed?: Five Essays on Congressional Reform (Hoover Institution Press, 1995).

Hanson received a BA in classics at the University of California, Santa Cruz (1975), was a fellow at the American School of Classical Studies, Athens (1977–78), and received his PhD in classics from Stanford University (1980).

The timely conversation brings to the forefront America's vanishing middle class and how government policies are impoverishing millions of citizens. "There is a common mentality evident in these pathologies and among those policymakers responsible for them. It is a strange new sense of justified entitlement among our credentialed elites in government and in private enterprise. As self-righteous moralists, they now assume that their deserved affluence, influence, and cultural superiority should exempt them from suffering firsthand the consequences of their own abstract theories and misbegotten policies that fall so heavily and so destructively upon distant and forgotten others."

Professor Hanson provides a clarion warning by relaying evidences of the looming peasant state:

"The result is the emergence of a new American peasantry, of millions of Americans who own little or no property. The new majority has scant, if any, savings. Fifty-eight percent of Americans have less than $1,000 in the bank. A missed paycheck renders them destitute, completely unable to service sizable debt. Most of what they buy, from cars to electronic appurtenances, they charge on credit cards."

According to The Wall Street Journal, "Some 83% of respondents described the state of the economy as poor or not so good. More than one-third, or 35%, said they aren’t satisfied at all with their financial situation. That was the highest level of dissatisfaction since NORC began asking the question every few years starting in 1972 as part of the General Social Survey."

Hanson, who was the fifth successive generation to live in the same house on his family’s farm, was a full-time orchard and vineyard grower from 1980-1984, before joining the nearby CSU Fresno campus in 1984 to initiate a classical languages program. In 1991, he was awarded an American Philological Association Excellence in Teaching Award, which is given yearly to the country’s top undergraduate teachers of Greek and Latin.

Socialism vs. The American Constitutional Structure: The Advantages Of Decentralization And Federalism | John Yoo

Socialism is finally getting the American honeymoon it never got in the last century. But American federalism’s division of power between a national government and fifty sovereign states makes difficult, if not impossible, the unified economic planning necessary to supplant capitalism. Decentralization of power, the Constitution’s Framers hoped, would not just promote government effectiveness but would also protect individual liberty by encouraging Washington and the states to check each other.

Our Constitution’s fundamental decentralization of power does not prevent many Americans from wishing for socialism anyway. A 2019 Gallup poll found that 43 percent of adults believed socialism to be “a good thing” and 47 percent even reported that they could vote for a socialist candidate for president. While a bare majority still opposes socialism, that view loses popularity among younger Americans. Since 2010, their attitude toward capitalism has deteriorated to the point that millennials view both capitalism and socialism with equal favor at about 50 percent. That contrasts with baby boomers, who support capitalism over socialism by 68–32 percent, and Gen Xers, whose support is 61–39 percent.

Hanson was a National Endowment for the Humanities fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies in the Behavioral Sciences, Stanford, California (1992–93), a visiting professor of classics at Stanford University (1991–92), the annual Wayne and Marcia Buske Distinguished Visiting Fellow in History at Hillsdale College (2004–), the Visiting Shifron Professor of Military History at the US Naval Academy (2002–3), and the William Simon Visiting Professor of Public Policy at Pepperdine University (2010).

Hanson is the author of hundreds of articles, book reviews, and newspaper editorials on Greek, agrarian, and military history and essays on contemporary culture. Business Week heralded him as the “longest surviving successful growth stock picker” and CNBC’s Ron Insana dubbed him one of the “century’s great investors.”

Foster works to promote the Founding Father principles of free enterprise, limited constitutional government, fiscal responsibility, and traditional American values. He believes we can find effective, innovative private sector solutions to many of the problems we face.

Among their many philanthropic commitments, Foster and Lynn, through the Friess Family Foundation, support mobile medical vans in needy U.S. neighborhoods, provide clean drinking water in Malawi, Africa, and assist in natural disaster relief efforts around the world. Foster received the Muhamad Ali Humanitarian Award and Childhelp’s Spirit of the Children Award, among other honors.

Foster Friess was born in Rice Lake, Wisconsin in 1940 and a first-generation college graduate. His mother dropped out of school in the eighth grade to pick cotton in order to save the family farm in Texas. His father dealt cattle and horses.

His investment strategy, based on the premise that —individual-company fundamentals drive stock prices, generated strong results for the portfolios he managed on behalf of institutions and high-net-worth individuals. Business Week heralded him as the “longest surviving successful growth stock picker” and CNBC’s Ron Insana dubbed him one of the “century’s great investors.
