Join America's Roundtable radio co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy with Mario Andretti — an American icon, pioneer and legend in motorsports.

Mario Andretti's American Dream story is especially compelling because it goes beyond motorsports. His family's experience as refugees, their emigration to the United States, and his rise to become one of the greatest race car drivers in history make him a powerful example of perseverance and opportunity.

The conversation also focuses on Mario's journey from communist Yugoslavia to America and taking a visit to his birthplace in Montona, Italy (ceded to Yugoslavia in 1945 after WWII and now present day Motovun, Croatia). His family lost over 2,100 acres of ancestral land when the communists took over the Istrian peninsula in the northern Adriatic region. Through hard work, perseverance, risk-taking and the pursuit of excellence fueled by creativity and innovation, Mario was more than a pioneer and high-achiever.

Mario's professional record when reflecting on his stellar career includes 111 major professional race wins.

Mario Andretti remains the only driver ever to win all three of these prestigious races:

  • Daytona 500
  • Indianapolis 500
  • A Formula One Grand Prix

President Trump formally recognized Andretti's legendary racing career as an inspiration for the America's 250th Anniversary celebration through the forthcoming Freedom 250 Grand Prix that will take place on August 22-23, 2026, marking the first‑ever NTT INDYCAR SERIES race on the National Mall in Washington, DC.
